Thumb Arthritis Surgery / Basal Joint Reconstruction

“After many years of playing musical instruments and working as a flooring contractor, my right hand apparently had had enough. When I put my hand to my ear and moved it, it sounded as if I was walking on gravel. I went to my internist who gave me a cortisone shot. After several years of a debilitating arthritic hand, my internist sent me to Dr. Raven. At first, Dr. Raven tried conservative measures – more cortisone at the precise location; then I went to a hand therapist who made a splint to wear in the evenings. Those measures failed to relieve the pain and usefulness of my right hand. At this point, Dr. Raven suggested surgery. At first I balked; but then after a month or so, I acquiesced after realizing that I needed a change in my hand’s behavior. Therefore, on April 25^th, 2007, I went in for surgery. Dr. Raven, his staff and the hospital were great. After four or five months, I had marked improvement; and after seven months my strength is returning and pain is nonexistent. Dr. Raven is a dedicated and very personable surgeon who answered every question I had. He also made excellent incisions. I am very happy with the outcome of the surgery.” – Patient P.I.

Revision Hip Replacement Surgery & Carpal Tunnel Surgery

In January, 2008, Dr. Shahan Yacoubian replaced my arthritic left hip that was in a painful bone-on-bone condition. While it is true that the modern techniques played a role in this difference of results, the fact is that Dr. Yacoubian operates with the most updated and modern equipment and knowledge; these being the operative factors in my case. I just finished my one year anniversary evaluation with flying colors and had only returned during this past year for routine check-ups.

Dr. Raymond Raven performed carpal tunnel surgery on my left wrist on December 1^st 2008. Again the diagnosis and treatment were right on target, and now, instead of dreading the same surgery on my other wrist, I look forward to the time it can be done as well.
